(بزنيس واير): كشفت دراسة جديدة لرابطة "جي إس إم إيه" ارتفاع مساهمة قطاع الجوال في جميع أهداف الأمم المتحدة للتنمية المستدامة والتي يبلغ عددها 17 هدفاً خلال العام الماضي. ويقوم إصدار عام 2019 من تقرير رابطة "جي إس إم إيه" لتأثير قطاع الجوال، هو الذي تم نشره اليوم خلال الجمعيّة العامة للأمم المتحدة في نيويورك، بإبراز دور تكنولوجيا الجوال والاتّصالات الجوالة في تلبية أهداف التنمية المستدامة وتحويل حياة مليارات الأشخاص حول العالم. وعلى الرغم من ذلك، يحذّر التقرير أنّه بجب تسريع التقدّم إذا أراد القطاع زيادة تأثيره إلى أقصى حدّ قبل الموعد النهائي لتحقيق الأهداف في عام 2030.

وقال ماتس جرانرايد، المدير العام لرابطة "جي إس إم إيه"، في هذا السياق: "يقدّم تقريرنا الرئيسي الجديد مجموعة من البراهين لعرض كيفيّة مساهمة قطاع الجوال في أهداف التنمية المستدامة من خلال الحد من الفقر، وتحسين الرعاية الصحية والتعليم، وتحفيز النموّ الاقتصادي المستدام. وتحقّق ذلك من خلال توسيع امتداد شبكات النطاق العريض الجوالة إلى جميع أرجاء العالم، ما يؤدي إلى اتصال حوالي مليار شخص جديد بالإنترنت الجوالة منذ عام 2015. ولتعزيز تأثيرنا خلال العقد القادم، نحتاج إلى ضمان اتّصال نصف السكان غير المتّصلين بالإنترنت بعد بطريقة ميسورة التكلفة وآمنة، وبحصولهم على المهارات الرقميّة الأساسيّة".

ومنذ عام 2016، وعندما أصبح قطاع الجوال أحد القطاعات الأولى في العالم التي تلتزم بأهداف التنمية المستدامة، بدأ حوالي 400 مليون شخصاً جديداً باستعمال الجوال وأكثر من 860 مليون شخصاً بالاتّصال بخدمات الإنترنت الجوالة. ويُتوقّع أن يسمح إطلاق خدمات الجيل الخامس "5 جي" بظهور تقنيّات وابتكارات جديدة في مجال الذكاء الاصطناعي وإنترنت الأشياء والبيانات الضخمة ستساهم بتسريع تحقيق الأهداف كزيادة الإدماج والمساواة في البلدان المتقدمة والنامية على حد سواء.

وأشارت الدراسة أنّه في عام 2018:

ثلثي عدد السكان حول العالم (5.1 مليار) هم من مشتركي الجوال، وحوالي النصف (3.5 مليار) يستخدمون خدمات إنترنت الجوال.

ساهم قطاع الجوال بـ3.9 تريليون دولار أمريكي (4.6 في المائة) من الناتج المحلّي الإجمالي العالمي، مدفوعاً بالتأثير المباشر وارتفاع الإنتاجيّة في قطاعات أخرى.

يستخدم حوالي 2 مليار مشترك هواتفهم الجوالة لشراء بضائع وخدمات (زيادة بمقدار 160 مليون بالمقارنة مع عام 2017).

يحصل 1.3 مليار مشترك على خدمات الصحة الجوالة (زيادة بمقدار 230 مليون بالمقارنة مع عام 2017).

يستخدم 1.4 مليار مشترك الجوال لتحسين تعليمهم أو تعليم أولادهم (زيادة بمقدار 140 مليون بالمقارنة مع عام 2017).

ساعدت الأموال الجوالة على خفض ثغرة الاستبعاد المالي في البلدان المنخفضة والمتوسطة الدخل، مع 866 مليون حساب مسجل للأموال الجوالة في نهاية عام 2018 (زيادة بمقدار 20 في المائة بالمقارنة مع عام 2017).

140 مليون شخص إضافي في المناطق الريفيّة تم اتصالهم بإنترنت الجوال للمرّة الأولى.

80 في المائة من النساء البالغات في البلدان المنخفضة والمتوسطة الدخل يمتلكنَ حاليّاً هاتفاً جوالاً، ما يساعدهنّ على الشعور بأمان أكبر واتّصال أكثر – وهي زيادة بمقدار 250 مليون عن الأعوام الخمسة الماضية.

قياس تأثيرات الجوال

يلجأ تقرير رابطة "جي إس إم إيه" حول تأثير قطاع الجوال إلى منهجيّة خاصّة لتحديد درجات الأثر‘ من أجل قياس مساهمة القطاع في أهداف التنمية المستدامة الـ 17 كلٍّ على حدة. ومن خلال تطبيق هذه الوسيلة، تبيّن نتيجة الدراسة استمرار أهمّ تأثير للقطاع على هدف التنمية المستدامة رقم 9 (الصناعة والابتكار والبنية التحتيّة). ويشكّل هذا التقدّم نتيجة بناء النطاق العريض ليغطي 90 في المائة من سكان العالم وليربط أكثر من 5 مليار شخص حول العالم. وبحسب النتيجة، تمّ الإعلان عن تقدّم كبير في عام 2018 على صعيد هدف التنمية المستدامة رقم 4: "التعليم الجيّد" وهدف التنمية المستدامة رقم 6: "المياه النظيفة والصرف الصحي".

وتبرز الدراسة أيضاً دور قطاع الجوال في مواجهة تحديات على صعيد البيئة والتغيّر المناخي (هدف التنمية المستدامة رقم 13: العمل المناخي). ويعدّ هذا التقدم نتيجة تأمين الاتّصال للحلول الرقميّة التي تخفض استعمال الطاقة، أو تخفض السفر والمواصلات، أو من ناحية أخرى تخفض انبعاثات غازات الدفيئة. ويتعاون القطاع نفسه حول مبادرة بقيادة "جي إس إم إيه" حول عمليّات الكشف عن التأثير المناخي وتحديد أهداف الانبعاثات1.

New ‘Mobile Industry Impact Report’ Points to Increased Impact Across All 17 SDGs

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- A new GSMA study shows increased contribution by the mobile industry against all 17 of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) over the past year. The 2019 edition of the GSMA’s Mobile Industry Impact Report, published today at the UN General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, highlights the role mobile technology and connectivity is playing in meeting the targets of the SDGs and transforming the lives of billions around the world. However, the report warns that progress must be accelerated if the industry is to fully maximise its impact ahead of the 2030 deadline for delivering the Goals.

“Our new flagship report presents a wealth of evidence to demonstrate how mobile is delivering the SDGs by reducing poverty, improving healthcare and education, and driving sustainable economic growth,” said Mats Granryd, Director General of the GSMA. “This has been achieved by extending mobile broadband networks to all corners of the world, resulting in almost a billion new people connecting to the mobile internet since 2015. But to maximise our impact over the next decade, we need to ensure that the half of the population not yet on the internet is connected affordably, safely and equipped with critical digital skills.”

Since 2016, when the mobile industry became one of the first sectors in the world to commit to the SDGs, around 400 million new people have started using mobile and more than 860 million have started accessing mobile internet services. The introduction of 5G services is also expected to enable new technologies and innovation around AI, IoT and big data that will further accelerate goals such as greater inclusion and equality across both developed and developing countries.

The study reports that in 2018:

Two-thirds of the global population (5.1 billion) are mobile subscribers, and almost half (3.5 billion) are using mobile internet services.
The mobile industry contributed $3.9 trillion (4.6%) to global GDP, driven by direct impact and increased productivity across other sectors.
Almost 2 billion subscribers use their mobile phone to purchase goods and services (+160 million compared to 2017).
1.3 billion subscribers access mobile health services (+230 million compared to 2017).
1.4 billion subscribers use mobile to improve their education or that of their children (+140 million compared to 2017).
Mobile money has helped reduce the financial exclusion gap in low- and middle-income countries, with 866 million registered mobile money accounts at the end of 2018 (+20% compared to 2017).
140 million additional people in rural areas connected to the mobile internet for the first time.
80% of adult women in low- and middle-income countries now own a mobile phone, which can help them feel safer and more connected - an increase of 250 million over the past five years.
Measuring Mobile’s Impact

The GSMA’s Mobile Industry Impact Report uses a proprietary methodology to assign an ‘impact score’ to measure the industry’s contribution to each of the 17 Goals. Applying this method, the result of the study shows the industry’s most significant impact continues to be on SDG #9 (Industry, innovation and infrastructure). This progress is a result of mobile broadband being built out to cover 90 per cent of the world’s population and connecting more than 5 billion people worldwide. According to the scores, significant progress is reported in 2018 on SDG #4: Quality Education and SDG #6: Clean Water and Sanitation.

The study also highlights the mobile industry’s role in addressing environmental and climate change challenges (SDG #13, Climate Action). This progress is a result of providing the connectivity for digital solutions that reduce energy use, reduce travel and transport, or otherwise reduce GHG emissions. The industry itself is also collaborating on a GSMA-led initiative around climate impact disclosures and emissions target setting1.

As part of its #BetterFuture campaign and commitment to the SDGs, the GSMA is working closely with the industry, policymakers, and the international development community to help connect the unconnected. By doing so, new opportunities to leverage and scale mobile-enabled solutions improve people’s quality of life. Les trois premiers épisodes de la saison 11 ont permis à ces candidats ambitieux de présenter leurs solutions technologiques répondant à un large éventail de problèmes. Et cette saison s’avère très prometteuse, car ce sont au total 31 candidats, un record dans l’histoire de l’émission, qui ont réussi à impressionner le jury et à se qualifier pour les épreuves de sélection. Ils se rapprochent ainsi du titre de meilleur innovateur arabe et du gain d’une part de 600 000 dollars en financement de démarrage pour leur idée.

Avec un tout nouveau format qui met l'accent sur la collaboration et la durabilité, divers changements ont été apportés à la phase de casting. Les modifications visaient à alléger la pression sur les candidats potentiels et à encourager un dialogue ouvert entre eux et les anciens candidats. Plusieurs d'entre eux ont ainsi co-animé les épisodes de casting, dont Anna Malek, candidate de la saison 10 ; Dr. Nour Majbour, finaliste de la saison 10 ; et Walaa Aniba, candidate de la saison 6. Pour participer à l’aventure Stars of Science et se préparer aux nombreuses questions du jury, les candidats ont présenté leurs idées devant leurs compétiteurs. Cet élément unique a servi de présélection au jury - qui surveillait la performance de chaque candidat depuis les coulisses - et a donné au trio le temps de réfléchir et de formuler des questions plus poussées. Les candidats ont ensuite eu l'occasion d'expliquer leurs concepts plus en détail lors d'entretiens individuels avec chacun des membres du jury.

« Stars of Science a été un moteur de l'innovation pour la science, la technologie, l'ingénierie et les mathématiques dans la région arabe depuis plus d'une décennie. Venant d'une formation médicale, je suis ravi de voir que les idées de cette année abordent des problématiques modernes en utilisant des technologies innovantes, en particulier dans le domaine biomédical », a déclaré le Professeur Abdelhamid El-Zoheiry, membre du jury de Stars of Science.

« Je suis également fier de nos anciens candidats, qui ont démontré qu'ils savaient faire des critiques détaillées des candidats et de leurs inventions et poser toutes les bonnes questions. »

Dans ses premiers épisodes, Stars of Science a fortement mis l’accent sur le rôle des femmes dans l'innovation et leurs réalisations dans divers domaines scientifiques. Suite à un nombre record de participation féminine et le succès de ces candidates lors de la dernière saison, l'émission est devenue la principale plateforme permettant aux femmes arabes de remettre en question les stéréotypes existants et de célébrer leurs réussites.

L'épisode de casting mettait en vedette des innovateurs dont les projets proposent de résoudre des problématiques dans tous les domaines en utilisant la technologie de façon créative. Par exemple, un biberon qui cible la santé dentaire des nourrissons, ou une batterie pour prothèses qui se recharge elle-même via les mouvements du patient ont été présentés.

« La passion, la créativité et le dévouement dont nous avons été témoins tout au long de la phase de casting nous ont montré combien les jeunes arabes ont du talent lorsqu'ils bénéficient d'une plate-forme pour développer leurs idées », a déclaré la scientifique Dr. Nour Majbour, qui a obtenu la deuxième place lors de la saison 10. « C'est un environnement unique dans notre région, et je suis heureuse de contribuer au développement d'une nouvelle génération d'innovateurs arabes. »

Le prochain épisode de l'émission, l'épisode de sélection, sera diffusé le samedi 5 octobre sur huit chaînes et en ligne. Après le choix des inventions les plus prometteuses par le jury, les huit premiers candidats se rendront dans les laboratoires de Stars of Science au Parc des Sciences et des Technologies du Qatar, qui fait partie de la Fondation du Qatar pour la recherche, le développement et l’innovation, afin de développer leurs prototypes dans un espace ultra-moderne d'innovation partagé et transformer leurs idées en réalité.

"نجوم العلوم" يشهد منافسة محتدمة مع اختتام مرحلة التصفيات الأولية

31 مشتركًا انتقلوا إلى المجلس العلمي

احتدمت المنافسة للفوز بلقب أفضل مخترع في العالم العربي مع اختتام مرحلة التصفيات الأولية من "نجوم العلوم"، برنامج تلفزيون الواقع التعليمي الترفيهي الرائد من مؤسسة قطر للتربية والعلوم وتنمية المجتمع، حيث شهدت حلقات التصفيات الأولية الثلاث عروضاً لأفكار مخترعين طموحين مسلحين بحماسة كبيرة وحلول تكنولوجية لمختلف التحديات التي نواجهها من حولنا، وتمكن 31 مشتركًا من بين 150 مرشحاً من إثارة إعجاب أعضاء لجنة تحكيم البرنامج، ليصبحوا أكبر مجموعة تنتقل إلى المجلس العلمي في تاريخ البرنامح، متقدمين خطوة واحدة باتجاه الفوز بلقب البرنامج، وتقاسم جائزة نقدية قيمتها 600 ألف دولار أمريكي لتمويل مشاريعهم.

وتميز البرنامج في موسمه الحادي عشر بصيغة جديدة كلياً تركز على التعاون والاستدامة، حيث قدّم العديد من خريجي البرنامج حلقات التصفيات إلى جانب مقدم البرنامج الإعلامي خالد الجميلي مثل آنا مالك، والدكتورة نور مجبور من الموسم العاشر، بالإضافة إلى ولاء عنيبة، إحدى متسابقين الموسم السادس. وشهدت مرحلة التصفيات الأولية تطوراً كبيراً، حيث قدم المرشحون عروضاً تقديمية قصيرة أمام المنافسين الجدد وخريجي المواسم السابقة من البرنامج من أجل تخفيف الضغوط التي يشعر بها المشاركون وتشجيعهم على إطلاق حوار مفتوح، لا سيما وأنهم يستعدون لبدء رحلتهم في برنامج نجوم العلوم، واستعداداً للخضوع للاستجواب المكثف الذي ينتظرهم على يد لجنة التحكيم.

وكانت هذه الإضافة المميزة بمثابة اختبار تمهيدي بالنسبة لأعضاء لجنة التحكيم، الذين كانوا يراقبون أداء كل مرشح من وراء الكواليس، ليأخذوا الوقت الكافي لصياغة وإعداد أسئلة أكثر عمقًا وصلة. وبعد ذلك أتيحت للمتسابقين الفرصة لشرح وتوضيح مضمون مشاريعهم بشكل أكثر تفصيلاً خلال مقابلات فردية مع أعضاء لجنة التحكيم.

 وفي تعليق له، قال البروفيسور عبد الحميد الزهيري، عضو لجنة تحكيم "نجوم العلوم": "يعد برنامج نجوم العلوم منذ إطلاقه قبل أكثر من عقد من الزمن، محركًا للابتكار في مجالات العلوم والتكنولوجيا والهندسة والرياضيات في المنطقة العربية، وانطلاقاً من خلفيتي الطبية فإنني سعيد جداً برؤية العديد من الأفكار المشاركة في هذا الموسم والتي تحاول التصدي لمشكلات حديثة باستخدام تقنيات مبتكرة، لا سيما في مجال الطب الحيوي. أنا فخور أيضًا بخريجينا الذين أثبتوا أنهم على استطاعة تامة أن يقدموا المساعدة للمخترعين الطموحين وطرح جميع الأسئلة الصحيحة!"

يشار الى أن برنامج نجوم العلوم أكد خلال حلقاته الافتتاحية على دور المرأة في الابتكار، وإنجازاتها في مجالات علمية متعددة، وبعد المشاركة القياسية لشابات عربيات في الموسم الماضي ونجاحهن في تحقيق نتائج هامة في المنافسة، أصبح البرنامج اليوم منصة رائدة للشابات العربيات لتحدي الصورة النمطية السائدة وإلقاء الضوء على منجزاتهن العظيمة.

إلى ذلك، شهدت حلقة التصفيات الأولية إقتراحات حلولاً لمشكلات في جميع المجالات من خلال استخدام التكنولوجيا بوسائل إبداعية وجديدة، ومن الأفكار التي تم تقديمها في هذه الحلقة، زجاجة رضاعة تكشف عن صحة الأسنان لدى الرضّع، كما تم تقديم فكرة لبطارية ذاتية الشحن خاصة بالأطراف الصناعية، قادرة على شحن نفسها بالاعتماد على حركة المريض.

إلى ذلك، قالت العالمة الدكتورة نور مجبور، الفائزة بالمركز الثاني في الموسم العاشر من برنامج نجوم العلوم: "الشغف الكبير والإبداع والتفانٍ لدى المشاركين خلال مرحلة التصفيات الأولية، يظهر الإمكانيات والمواهب الكبيرة التي يتمتع بها الشباب العربي عندما يتوفر له منصة تدعمه، ويسعدني أن أقوم بدوري في رعاية الجيل الجديد من المبدعين العرب!

هذا، وسيتم عرض الحلقة التالية من البرنامج، والتي ستشهد اختيار المتنافسين المؤهلين للانتقال إلى المجلس العلمي، يوم السبت الموافق 5 من أكتوبر عبر ثمانية قنوات في المنطقة وعبر الموقع الإلكتروني. وبعد انتهاء لجنة التحكيم من اختيار أفضل الابتكارات الواعدة، سينتقل المرشحون الثمانية الأوائل إلى مختبرات نجوم العلوم في واحة قطر للعلوم والتكنولوجيا، وهي عضو في قطاع البحوث، والتطوير والإبتكار في مؤسسة قطر،  للعمل على تطوير نماذجهم الأولية في بيئة ابتكار مشتركة وتحويل أفكارهم إلى منتجات حقيقية.

نبذة عن برنامج نجوم العلوم:

Young Arab innovators strived for jury’s approval through Qatar Foundation’s flagship edutainment

The marathon to become the Arab world’s next top innovator has begun, as Qatar Foundation’s Stars of Science concludes the casting stage.

Season 11’s opening three episodes showcased presentations from eager hopefuls armed with technological solutions for an array of problems. This year’s contenders held great promise, as the largest group in the show’s history – 31 candidates in total – impressed the jury and advanced to the selection round; taking one step closer to winning the title and a share of $600,000 in seed funding.

In a brand-new format that focuses on collaboration and sustainability, various changes were made to the casting phase. The amendments were designed to alleviate the pressure on potential contestants and encourage open dialogue amongst peers and alumni - several of which co-hosted the casting episodes, including Anna Malek, Season 10 contestant; Dr.Nour Majbour, Season 10 finalist; and Walaa Aniba, Season 6 contestant. To commence their Stars of Science journey and prepare for the jury’s extensive questioning, candidates gave short presentations to new and old competitors. This unique element acted as an initial screening for the jury – who were monitoring every candidate’s performance behind the scenes – and gave the trio time to reflect and formulate deeper questions. The contestants then had the chance to explain their concepts further in one-on-one interviews with each jury member.

“Stars of Science has been a driver of innovation for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in the Arab region for over a decade. Coming from a medical background, I am delighted to see that this year’s ideas address modern problems using innovative technologies, especially in the biomedical field,” said Professor Abdelhamid El-Zoheiry, Stars of Science jury member.

“I am also proud of our alumni, who demonstrated that they knew how to provide detailed critiques of candidates and their inventions and ask all the right questions.”

In its opening episodes, Stars of Science strongly emphasized the role of women in innovation and their accomplishments in varying scientific fields. Following the record number of participation and success of women last season, the show has become the leading platform for Arab women to challenge existing stereotypes and highlight their triumphs.

The casting episode featured innovators whose projects proposed to solve problems in all realms by utilizing technology in creative and novel ways. Ideas included a nursing bottle that aims to target the dental health of infants, while another standout concept was a self-charging battery for prosthetics that charges itself through the patient’s movement.

“The consistent passion, creativity, and dedication we have seen throughout the Casting stage has shown us the sheer amount of talent young Arabs have when they are provided with a supportive platform,” said scientist Dr. Nour Majbour, who secured second place in Season 10. “This is a unique environment in our part of the world, and I am happy to do my part in nurturing a new generation of Arab innovators.”

The show’s next installment, the selection episode, will air on Saturday, October 5, across eight channels and online. Following the jury’s choice of the most promising innovations, the top eight will travel to the Stars of Science laboratories in Qatar Science & Technology Park, Qatar- part of Qatar Foundation for Research, development and innovation-  to develop their prototypes in the state-of-the-art shared innovation space and turn their ideas into a reality.

وقال الدكتور ماكوتو هوندا، مدير المشاريع المتعلقة باضطرابات النوم لدى معهد العلوم الطبية في العاصمة طوكيو* في هذا السياق: "يعتبر التغفيق من النوع الأول مرضاً موهناً للقوى تشمل أعراضه النعاس المفرط في النهار والفقدان المفاجئ لقوة العضلات عندما يكون المرء مستيقظاً، المعروف أيضاً باسم الجُمدة. وأضاف: "هناك حاجة كبيرة إلى علاجاتٍ محسَّنة لمساعدة الأفراد الذين يعانون من التغفيق من النوع الأول الناتج عن فقدان الخلايا العصبية المنتجة للأوركسين في الدماغ. وتشير هذه النتائج إلى أن استخدام معاضد انتقائي لمستقبلات "أوركسين 2" قد يكون وسيلة فعالة لعلاج النعاس المفرط خلال النهار في حالات التغفيق من النوع الأول". 

وقد أظهر "تي إيه كي-925"  زيادةً في اليقظة لدى الأفراد الذين يعانون من التغفيق من النوع الأول بالمقارنة مع العقار الوهمي. وانخرط ما مجموعه 14 شخصاً يعانون من التغفيق من النوع الأول في ثلاث مجموعات متتالية من الجرعات لتقييم تأثير "تي إيه كي-925" على التأثيرات الدوائية الاستكشافيى النهائية. وتم التقييم في كل مجموعة بطريقة عشوائية ومزدوجة التعمية وخاضعة للتحكم بالعلاج الوهمي لتبادل المعلومات الناجمة عن الملاحظة. 

وشملت نتائج التأثيرات الدوائية لدى المرضى الذين يعانون من التغفيق من النوع الأول (1) اختبار الوقت الكامن قبل النوم في اختبار الحفاظ على اليقظة الذي كانت مدته 40 دقيقة وأجري أربع مرات يفصل بين كل منها ساعتان، خلال حقن "تي إيه كي-925" أو العقار الوهمي لمدة تسع ساعات و2) مقياس "كارولينسكا" للنوم الذي أجري كل ساعة قبل الحقن وخلاله. وبلغ متوسط الوقت الكامن قبل النوم في اختبار الحفاظ على اليقظة 2.9 دقيقة بالنسبة للعقار الوهمي (العدد= 13)، و22.4 دقيقة عند تناول دواء "تي إيه كي-925" بمقدار 5 ملغ (العدد= 6)، و 37.6 دقيقة  عند تناول دواء "تي إيه كي-925" بمقدار 11.2 ملغ (العدد= 4) و40 دقيقة  عند تناول دواء "تي إيه كي-925" بمقدار 44.8 ملغ (العدد= 4). ودعمت نتائج مقياس "كارولينسكا" للنوم النتائج التي تم الحصول عليها في اختبار الحفاظ على اليقظة للوقت الكامن قبل النوم؛ وأفاد المشاركون عن درجات نعاس أقل خلال الحقن بعقار "تي إيه كي-925" بالمقارنة مع العقار الوهمي. 

أما عند البالغين الأصحاء المحرومين من النوم، فقد حافظ عقار "تي إيه كي-925" بشكل فعال على اليقظة أثناء الليل. وأجريت هذه الدراسة على شكل تجربة أحادية المركز وعشوائية ومزدوجة التعمية وخاضعة للتحكم بعلاج وهمي وعلاجٍ نشط لتبادل المعلومات الناجمة عن الملاحظةعلى 20 من الرجال البالغين الأصحاء المحرومين من النوم. وكان الهدف الرئيسي قياس الوقت الكامن قبل النوم في اختبار الحفاظ على اليقظة. وكان متوسط الوقت الكامن قبل النومفي اختبار الحفاظ على اليقظة 8.6 دقيقة بالنسبة للعقار الوهمي (العدد=20)، و25.4 دقيقة عند تناول  "تي إيه كي-925" بمقدار 44 ملغ (العدد=18) و 38.8 دقيقة عند تناول "تي إيه كي-925" بمقدار 112 ملغ (العدد=18). وعكست نتائج مقياس "كارولينسكا" للنوم عموماً النتائج التي تم الحصول عليها في اختبار الحفاظ على اليقظة.

ومن جهتها، قالت ديبورا هارتمان، الحائزة على شهادة الدكتوراه ورئيسة البرامج العالمية لدى "تاكيدا نيوروساينس": "تم تحديد ’أوركسين‘ باعتباره منظماً رئيسياً لحالات النوم واليقظة، وتوضح هذه النتائج المبكرة أن معاضداً انتقائياً لمستقبلات ’أوركسين 2‘ قد يؤدي إلى تقليل النعاس أثناء النهار في حالات التغفيق من النوع الأول حيث يوجد نقص في الـ ’أوركسين‘". وتابعت هارتمان قائلةً: "ولا يقل عن ذلك إثارةً هو أننا شهدنا أيضاً آثاراً محفزة للاستيقاظ لدى الأفراد الأصحاء، الذين يفترض أن يكون لديهم مستويات طبيعية من الـ ’أوركسين‘. وقد شجعتنا نتائج هذه الدراسات المبكرة، ونجري حالياً المزيد من الأبحاث السريرية لمعاضدات مستقبلات ’أوركسين 2‘ الانتقائية في حالات التغفيق من النوع الأول واضطرابات أخرى تتميز بالنوم المفرط أثناء النهار، مثل التغفيق من النوع الثاني  وفرط النوم مجهول السبب، وكذلك كعلاج محتمل للنعاس التكميلي المفرط أثناء النهار في حالات انقطاع التنفس الانسدادي أثناء النوم" 

.

كما قدمت "تاكيدا" بيانات قبل سريرية حول "تي إيه كي-994"، وهو معاضد  انتقائي لمستقبلات "أوركسين 2"  يتم تناوله عبر الفم، ويخضع حالياً للمرحلة الأولى من الدراسات السريرية، في ملصقين عُرضا خلال المؤتمر العالمي للنوم. وساهم "تي إيه كي-994" لدى عينتين من الفئران التي تعاني من التغفيق في زيادة اليقظة خلال المرحلة النشطة وفي تثبيط نوبات شبيهة بالجُمدة.

New Data Presented at World Sleep Congress Demonstrate Early Signs of Efficacy for TAK-925, a Selective Orexin Type-2 Receptor (OX2R) Agonist, in Patients with Narcolepsy Type 1

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited (TSE:4502/NYSE:TAK) (“Takeda”) announced results of a Phase 1 clinical proof of concept study of the novel investigational compound TAK-925, a selective orexin type-2 receptor (OX2R) agonist, in individuals with narcolepsy type 1 (NT1). The company also presented data on the effects of TAK-925 in healthy sleep-deprived adults. These studies evaluated safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic effects of TAK-925 during a single 9-hour intravenous administration. In both studies, TAK-925 was well tolerated at all doses tested. These studies were presented for the first time at the World Sleep 2019 Biennial Congress in Vancouver, Canada.

“Narcolepsy type 1 is a debilitating disease that includes excessive daytime sleepiness and the sudden loss of muscle tone when a person is awake, also known as cataplexy,” said Dr. Makoto Honda, Sleep Disorders Project Leader, Tokyo Metropolitan Institute of Medical Science.* “There is a considerable need for improved treatments for individuals with NT1, which is caused by the loss of orexin-producing neurons in the brain. These results suggest that use of a selective OX2R agonist may be an effective approach to treating excessive daytime sleepiness in NT1.”

In individuals with NT1, TAK-925 showed increased wakefulness compared to placebo. A total of 14 NT1 participants were enrolled in three sequential dose cohorts to evaluate the effect of TAK-925 on exploratory pharmacodynamic endpoints. In each cohort, the evaluation was conducted in a randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled, two-way crossover fashion.

Pharmacodynamic outcomes in NT1 patients included i) sleep latency in the Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT), which was 40 minutes (mins) in duration and conducted four times at two-hour intervals during the nine-hour TAK-925 or placebo infusion and ii) the Karolinska Sleepiness Scale, which was done hourly before and during the infusion. The mean sleep latency in MWT was 2.9 mins for placebo (N=13), 22.4 mins for TAK-925 at 5mg (N=6), 37.6 mins for TAK-925 at 11.2mg (N=4) and 40 mins for TAK-925 at 44.8mg (N=4). Karolinska Sleepiness Scale results supported those obtained on the MWT for time to sleep onset; participants reported lower sleepiness scores during infusion of TAK-925 than placebo.

In healthy sleep-deprived adults, TAK-925 effectively maintained wakefulness at night. This study was conducted as a single-center, randomized, double-blind, placebo- and active-controlled, crossover design in 20 sleep-deprived healthy male adults. The primary objective was sleep latency on the MWT. The mean sleep latency in MWT was 8.6 mins for placebo (N=20), 25.4 mins for TAK-925 at 44mg (N=18) and 38.8 mins for TAK-925 at 112mg (N=18). Karolinska Sleepiness Scale results generally reflected the results obtained on the MWT.

“Orexin has been identified as a master regulator of sleep-wake states, and these early results demonstrate that an OX2R agonist may reduce daytime sleepiness in NT1, where there is a loss of orexin,” said Deborah Hartman, PhD, Global Program Lead, Takeda Neuroscience. “What is equally exciting is that we also saw wake-promoting effects in healthy individuals, who are presumed to have normal orexin levels. We’re encouraged by the results of these early studies and are exploring further clinical investigation of selective OX2R agonists in NT1 and other disorders characterized by excessive daytime sleepiness, such as narcolepsy type 2 and idiopathic hypersomnia, and also as a possible treatment for residual excessive daytime sleepiness in obstructive sleep apnea.”

Takeda also presented preclinical data on TAK-994, an oral selective OX2R agonist currently in Phase 1 clinical studies, in two posters at the World Sleep Congress. In two mouse models of narcolepsy, TAK-994 increased wakefulness during the active phase and suppressed cataplexy-like episodes.
